Basic Description

This is my werewolf world, it's been percolating since sometime in November, right after I got into a Big Wolf on Campus after the Halloween toon at Homestarrunner. I wanted to create werewolves who weren't evil, a bad puberty metaphor, a bad serial killer metaphor, too silly or too dark, but more importantly have a good system of how they work that is logical if you ignore the fact that it exists. Hard fantasy if you will. I am calling it the the Fairview Pack becuase Fairview is one of the most commonly used town names in North America, therefore implying that there are werewolves in the suburbs and every other type of town. Also if I ever write a series using this world I would probably make it set in a Fairview.

So this one is a world which is more or less our world, set in North America. It's a world where werewolves exist, they live in basically every city and town in this continent and probably every city and town in the world. There're these non-werewolves who are either decendants of the people who tried to hunt down the werewolves and they got knowledge of the werewolves becuase they were the only people who actually purposly tried to get close to werewolves and some of them even lived to tell the tale or people who were interested in werewolves and took a class at the YMCA or the local center for these people. The werewolves who did nothing but kill were the unfortunate the result of a the medieval diet. Becuase the water was crap, and often contain the aformention substance, alcohol was really the only semi-potable liquid, with ale and mead being popular bevrages, rye is a hearty staple crop that unfortunaly was prone to developing a mold called ergot, which is what LSD is derived from. Werewolves, like people, when comsuming mind-altering substances would often lose control of themselves, this was a problem becuase when a werewolf loses control, he transforms and doesn't retain his human conciousness, this paired with the low calorie/low potein with lots of rye and the only protein source is animal flesh of your typical medival type person made werewolves who had no control over their wolf "side" and didn't get enough nutrition, plus they had a taste for flesh. Nowadays werewolves are aware of these limitations and there these people that help new werewolves.

Things/Themes I need to touch on:

Name for the non-werewolf helper-type people, I'm thinking catcher, and a name for their organization that potentially spells something funny.
How is lycanthropy spread? Is it most like a bacteria, a virus, just bites or do sex and scratches work too, is it spread through a ritual?(although I am going to nix all the magic-y stuff like rituals becuase, just becuase)
What do tranformed werewolves look like? Are they upright or do they walk on all fours? Do they look more like people than wolves or vice-versa?
What triggers transformation?
What is the culture and history of werewolves, how do they feel about themselves?
What is the cutture and history of the catchers, what is the interaction between them and the werewolves? Is there friction?

Is anyone interested? Does this sound full of crap?
